It's a sign of the times, and businesses in Bladen, Columbus and Brunswick Counties are paying the price for it. District Attorney Jon David announced today the state eliminated the Bad Check Program for the three counties David represents to save money.

Sen. Thom Goolsby says his plan to rename US 17 will not spend unnecessary money. Today Goolsby clarified his bill, which calls for $100,000 in DOT money to pay for new signs. The senator says the legislation will only replace signs that are in need of repair. Those signs would then have the name "US Marine Corps Highway."

Sen. Thom Goolsby has sponsored a bill in the state legislature to designate US 17 as US Marine Corps Highway. The bill calls for $100,000 of Department of Transportation funds be allocated to pay for signage for the road.
