ONLY ON 3: Hurricane Expert George Elliott's take on Irene Saturday Morning

Irene looks to have landfall around 7:30 am Saturday just west of Cape Lookout, NC. The storm was a category one at the time, with maximum sustained winds of around 85 mph. The storm will continue to pull away from our area through the night, and be replaced by a hot and humid Sunday with a mix of sun and few clouds with light winds!

President declares emergency for North Carolina

FEMA announced that federal aid has been made available to North Carolina to supplement the state and local response efforts in the area due to the emergency conditions resulting from Hurricane Irene beginning on August 25, 2011, and continuing.

Irene has NC military ready to move jets, events

At Camp Lejeune, Marine Corps spokesman Nat Fahy says a ceremony opening a new battle training center is being delayed because of Hurricane Irene. Fahy says it is unclear when the ceremony will be held.
