Teaching assistants left out of Pender budget

There will be some noticeable absences when Pender County Schools start up next week. The school district does not yet have a finalized budget, but School Board Chair Tom Roper said TAs currently are not budgeted for. Eleven teaching assistants will not be reporting for the first day of school. Including benefits, each is a roughly $40,000 a year position. Roper said they will know more about the budget by the end of the week. There's a special budget meeting at 2:30pm Friday at Topsail High School. It is open to the public.

This is awful. less than a week before school starts and they want to pull this. Isn't there a law about how many kids you can watch I mean one adult to 18 to 28 kids in a room. Get the money to the schools. IT is there

I'm confused

When I was in grammar school, we had ONE NUN teaching about sixty kids....and when they graduated they all knew one heckuva lot more than kids today know. What changed?

Well Mom

you state the money is there. Where is there? Have you missed the circus in Raleigh? Have you missed the manner in which the Governor moves funds around the Lottery Fund to balance other budget shortfalls? If you know where the money is, tell the Board, I am certain they would like your pointed map as to where the treasure is buried.
