Day two recap of the Leon Brogden Holiday Basketball Tournament

After posting day one wins, New Hanover and North Mecklenberg met Tuesday night in semi-final number one. James Hill does his best to get New Hanover into the championship, after the nice fake, he hits the mid-range jumper. North Mecklenberg picked up their defense, getting the steal; Carlin Bremmer is on the receiving end of the long outlet and lays in two of his game high 27 points. The Wildcats trailed by five at halftime, Freddie Jackson hits Detwon Rodgers down low; he gets the basket and the foul. North Mecklenberg kept responding, Bernard Sullivan scores from inside, he finished with 12 points on the night. New Hanover did some damage inside as well, Desmond Thames with the dish, Cole Daley with the deuce. New Hanover cut the lead down to one in the fourth quarter but couldn't make enough shots down the stretch. North Mecklenberg held on for the 60-52 win and advance to Wednesday night's championship game. ”It’s an unbelievable experience,” North Mecklenburg head coach, Duane Lewis said. “Our kids are having a great time, coming down from Charlotte. They treat you with class. It's first class all the way. It’s an honor to be able to be in this tournament. We came in 2000 and won it. We'd love to come every year. This is an exciting feeling for our guys. Get to play in a championship, that's what we talk about all the time. Not necessarily the state championship but a championship. So we're in the championship game. Its exciting cause, its quality competition down here; great event, great teams, well coached teams. It's a great feeling."
