WILMINGTON -- A Wilmington teen accused of bringing a gun onto school property faces multiple charges.
New Hanover County Sheriff's deputies arrested 19-year-old Terry Earl Hooper around 9:30 Friday night at the football jamboree at legion stadium.
A witness reported seeing Hooper involved in a possible drug transaction.
Deputies struggled with Hooper during the arrest. He's charged with possession of a firearm on school property, carrying a concealed weapon and resisting arrest.
Hooper is being held in the New Hanover County jail on $5,100 bond.

We need "Project Exile" brought to Wilmington.
If you drive into Richmond or the Norfolk-Virginia Beach areas, you'll be greeted by billboards with giant words that say, "An illegal gun gets you five years in federal prison." These warn all felons that Project Exile is in effect.
Project Exile simply enforces existing federal law. Project Exile means every convicted felon caught with a gun, no matter what he's doing, will go to prison for five years. No parole, no early releases, no discussion, period. Off he goes!
In the ten years since it's inception, the results have been dramatic. Gun violence plummeted in Richmond and the same happened when the program was expanded into the Tidewater.
We need to use every tool at hand to remove these predatory thugs from our society, and since our state doesn't seem to have the stomach for it, perhaps the feds will.

...if guns were outlawed the only people that would have them are the criminals like this young man. With the artist of this day and age glorifying violence in general (Ice cube: cop killer, NWA, Tu-Pac, Eminem) the parents of these kids do not have a fighting chance. Kids need to know the difference of right and wrong from the parents and their idols. Education will ultimately be the key in saving our kids from the throws of evil. Also some kids do not even have a set of parents to tell them whats wrong or right for the simple fact that grandmothers and grandfathers raised in a different time are having to raise these kids because the real parents are out gallivanting around in the cars they cant afford with the friends they still can not afford. Wake up America, because the generation that are raising your kids are about to die and along with them good morals and peaceful intentions; and your kids future.
He brought a gun to school
He is still young, why do we give him a chance and put him in the Marines in Iraq for 5 years minumum before he can come home. That way he can rebuild his life and he can help out the cause. I know people hate the war, but it's a start. These kids need something to they can atleast pay their way back into society. Then later on in life he can get a job. If he doesn't work out send him to jail.

The Armed Forces will not accept him because of his criminal record. They grew tired of trying to do what mom-n-dad failed to do a lonnnnng time ago.

NHC has nothing to do with the bond, it is a magistrate. If this kid would have been shot during this struggle, I guess that would have been the Deputies fault as well. The problem starts at home, and carries over to the street when the parents don't care.

Even the city wide ban on guns in D.C. has been overturned by the courts. Unconstitutional proclimations will not survive as long people still have common sense.

Oh, I'm SURE that the local street thugs would just love it if we banned guns! Less chance of being killed while you're robbing someone, right?
This should be fairly obvious to you - the only people who would obey a law outlawing guns would be LAW-ABIDING people. A person willing to face the judicial consequences of murder, armed robbery, or rape is not going to be deterred in the least by a gun control law, which would naturally have lesser penalties.
The way to solve our crime problem is to lock these violent offenders up for a long, long, LONG time. Look at the criminal record for that stooge Garner that slashed some guy's throat the other day: Two previous felony convictions for assault with intent to inflict serious injury, a non-stop record that goes back nearly twenty years and that guy is on the street!
And you want to blame guns and a lack of recreational opportunities?????
Buy a clue! Crime is exploding because there is absolutely no incentive to NOT be a criminal. If these people knew with 100% certainty that they'd be in jail until they were old men, or put down like the sick dogs they are, you'd see a remarkable attitude adjustment.

Guns are not the problem, I own several legal handguns and long guns and have never shot anybody. The problem is these punks that get guns and don't care about anybody else. They don't value life or property so they just shoot if they feel the need.
