BOLIVIA, N.C. (AP) -- A 16-year-old girl who married her 40-year-old former teacher can't get her toys back from her parents.
A judge says Windy Wuchae cannot force her parents to return her Beanie Baby collection, PlayStation and other items.
The girl sued her parents, Dennis and Betty Hager, for items valued at more than $1,000 they kept after she moved out to marry Brenton Wuchae, her cross-country coach at South Brunswick High School.
Magistrate Deborah Ramphal dismissed the case.
Brenton Wuchae resigned in June the day he married Windy. The couple works at a grocery store in Oak Island, where both families live.
The Hagers say they reluctantly signed consent forms for marriage. They've sued the school system, saying it failed to adequately investigate Wuchae.

OK, I think the whole situation is sick however if you will check brunsco.net and look at the tax listing you will find the property values of the Wuchae's and Hager's home. There will probably not be a new doublewide in either of their futures as both families properties have substanial tax values.

Many of us realize from experience that marriage at a young age usually ends in divorce. But I have known people that have been married 50-60 years and are still enjoying each others company. What’s done is done. The parents signed the papers. The parents allowed her to go fishing, running, etc with him from the time that Windy was 14. They were not around and allowed him to take her home from practice they allowed him to take her to school. When I try to place myself in Windys situation, I can see why she would be attracted to a man that would give her attention. Her parents were too busy to even take time to pick her up from practice. Teens that age need their parents love. Now all of a sudden the parents decided that they had messed up by allowing the interaction to begin with, tried to stop it and in the process alienated Windy. Her media seeking parents seem like the ones that should be held liable. They should be charged for child abuse for allowing her to run about Oak Island with a 38-40 year old man, and being idiotic enough to think that it was all in innocence. I find it hard to believe that they want to hold the school system accountable for what they allowed to take place? How old was Windys mom when she got married? Children do not come with a manual when they are born, and raising teenagers is hard, but there are several resources out there for those having problems.
As far as Mr.Wuchae is concerned, he must have loved Windy enough to give up a job making twice what he is making now to be with her. Education is not cheap and he basically gave up his degree because he will not be able to use it again.. He has paid a steep price.
And can you imagine living with those parents--no wonder Windy wanted to get married.
I am not saying that what they did was "right" but the parents could have refused to sign the papers. So they are married now and Mr. Wuchae is working and trying to help provide which is much more than many men do. Leave them alone at their job, they have their life to live. We all have to deal with poor decisions that we have made in our lives and most of the time we do not realize how bad of a decision it is until several years later.
Brent and Windy.. Make it a goal to prove the naysayer wrong. Make your marriage a strong one, commit to each other, to God and don't allow people to intimidate you. Good Luck!

I am a personal friend of Windy's. She reads these blogs on occasion, when they aren't too brutal, and she told me about this blog, what you said. She told me that she appreciated the rare few that didn't bash her and her husband, especially those who have no idea what they're talking about. They are married now, leave them alone and let them live their lives. I was married at sixteen to a twenty-three year old, we have been married for thirty-seven years. It didn't take long for life itself to teach me plenty of lessons, they don't need you to do it. Life is hard without us always tearing each other down. As for the parents, that is your daughter, you might not have her tomorrow so love her today no matter what she does. Life is short and just in this county we have lost three teenage girls in less than a month to traffic accidents. You might not like her choices but deal with it and have a life with her. Hold your head up and be a family.

You say they won't be at Food Lion forever. From what I hear she did not start back to school, I really hope she did. If she did not she might be working there for a long time. She also wants HER horse sculptures valued at $100. AND EVEN IF they were just "toys" of little cash value that shouldn't matter...someone's PROPERTY is someone's PROPERTY - PERIOD!! I think it's the "parents" that are acting like children (ALONG WITH many of the responders to this article w/ their snide bratty commentary)...they want to keep stuff that is NOT THEIRS.
