Some Wilmington residents are helping make sure you are prepared for hurricane season.

A showcase to help keep your home safe was help at the North Carolina National Guard Center on Carolina Beach road. The show featured information about everything from storm shutters to what to do with your pet for natural disasters. Experts say the most important thing anyone can do before a hurricane is prepare for it.

"If you prepare for it, they're not bad," said Jeffrey Cottle who makes custom storm shutters here in Wilmington. "If you don't prepare for it...Katrina is a great example. And that's it. Be ready."

The showcase will continue tomorrow. It will be held at the National Guard center, next to Legion Stadium, from noon until 5 pm.
