Toyota owners wondering what to do about recall

READ MORE: Toyota owners wondering what to do about recall

A worldwide recall has many Toyota owners wondering where to go from here. Today Toyota stopped production and stopped sales of eight popular vehicle models.

Owners could find themselves in a dangerous situation. Their gas pedals are sticking. In the worst case scenario the car accelerates uncontrollably.

Ashley Scales owns a brand new 2010 Rav 4. She has yet to experience any problems, but she is very concerned about her new SUV.

"I was a little freaked out and a little panicky at first," she said."I drove my car right after I read about it and I was panicking like my car feels weird driving. So I got a little worked up about it."

Toyota of Wilmington would not comment on the situation, referring us to a phone number in California. It went to a voicemail that is filled to capacity.

2001 Tundra

Are you kidding me? I still have my 2001 SR5 Tundra. It was recalled to the dealership for faulty seatbelt function. Guess what. After the dealership here in Slidell, LA "repaired" it, it still does not function properly... even after several visits back to the dealership over the years after the "fix." So, if these folks are counting on Toyota to actually care about and repair the mechanical problems that are the cause of their woes, don't count on Toyota. They are probably remembering Hiroshima and thinking revenge... just at a slower rate of speed.

You Must

You must still like Toyota because you are still driving one! So they have problems but which car company doesn't! I am very happy with Toyota because I have a 4 runner and my wife has a Camery! Of course there will be problems with everything, you can't please everyone!

Maybe take the car to Toyota?

Since it is a recall, maybe take their Toyota to the dealership??

Notice the Toyotas actually

Notice the Toyotas actually made in Japan are not affected?

Or maybe their liability laws are different and it is cheaper not to fix them.

toyota site.....says

What is the likelihood that my vehicle will experience this condition?

The condition is RARE and does not occur suddenly. It can occur when the pedal mechanism becomes worn and, in certain conditions, the accelerator pedal may become harder to depress, slower to return or, in the worst case, stuck in a partially depressed position.
