Tri-Span Run in Wilmington

More than 500 runners participated in the annual Tri-Span run. It's a run that spans all 3 downtown bridges. Tom Clifford captured first place in the men's division with a time of 33 minutes 42 seconds. Billy Van Vianen placed second. Charles Wofford took third. Tom Clifford said: "I didn't know what to expect, I ran two races last weekend and I came out here to win a pair of shoes, just enjoyed myself and tried to finish without passing out basically."

Melanie Lenk captured first place for women in 41 minutes 19 seconds. Janet Warren placed second followed by Grace Wallenborn. Lenk said: "it was a very hot course, I felt fairly strong toward the end, It's uh, I can't really breathe right now." .
