The trial is scheduled to start today for a man accused of killing a FBI employee nearly a decade ago. It took a six-year investigation and a man hunt that led federal agents to Louisiana in 2005, to finally bring Tyrone Delgado back to Wilmington to stand trial for the murder of Melissa Mooney.
In August 1999 coworkers found Mooney strangled in her Castle Hayne home. Delgado lived in the same neighborhood. He is charged with burglary and first-degree murder. But this is not the first time Delgado has been on trial.
In 2003 Delgado pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the 2000 death of a local teenager. That same year, a judge also found Delgado guilty of assault after a Castle Hayne store clerk said he attacked and threatened to rape her.

This thing is a waste of resources. Best for all concerned is for him to stop breathing. Prior felonies, manslaughter, rape burglary and only God knows what else. Scumbag- period.
Its now your turn to tell
Melissa Mooney killing
I guess the real life FBI agents who took care of the Melissa Mooney investigation are not as clever as the agents on the TV show "Criminal Minds", those guys should have caught the real killer -Tyrone Delgado- in one episode at the most, for crying out loud! it was her next door neighbor!!! and he was there all this time and after investigating half the FBI agents and even another one from the ATF and lots more of usual suspects they finally caught up with this monster Delgado because of a new DNA test, incredible and thumbs down to those in charge of this investigation and my best regards to Miss Mooney family and friends
