"Colin" now a tropical storm... again

Colin has reached tropical storm status again. Hurricane Hunter aircraft indicated Thursday afternoon that Colin had become better organized. The storm is still expected to pass far offshore of southeastern NC, but the rip current risk along our shores will be high this weekend. The worst of the storm effects will likely affect Bermuda where Tropical Storm Warnings are in effect.

Thunderstorms will be likely in the Carolinas for Friday/early Saturday, but there will not be NOT courtesy of Colin. Our local thunderstorms will be coming from a cold front approaching from Tennessee.

You can continue to monitor the tropics daily with video forecast updates and the latest satellite imagery on our Hurricanes 101 page.
