We're excited to announce Trot Nixon is joining the WWAY NewsChannel 3 Team this fall as co-host of our high school football show, "The 5th Quarter."

Trot's a former Major League Baseball outfielder who won a World Series title in 2004 with the Boston Red Sox. He also played with the Cleveland Indians and the New York Mets.

Before his storied baseball career, Trot was a star quarterback at New Hanover High School and was named State Player of the Year both on the gridiron and in baseball. As a senior, he broke school passing records held by former NFL quarterbacks Sonny Jurgensen and Roman Gabriel. He was planning to play football at NC State on scholarship after graduation, but was drafted instead by the Red Sox in the first round of the 1993 Major League Baseball Draft.

"The 5th Quarter" is Southeast North Carolina's best source for high school football scores and highlights. Catch Trot and John Rendleman every Friday evening on WWAY NewsChannel 3 at 11 starting August 20.

Glad to see

you're keeping Rendleman. He has a unique on-air presence which is pretty good. Too bad you can not allow him more air time to do sports.

Great Addition!

Way to go WWAY. Trot will be a great addition!

Boring

I'm not into sports I care more about news rather than american football!
