Turkey Bowl is a Turkey Day tradition

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- What’s Turkey Day without a little football? The long-standing tradition, the Turkey Bowl, was played earlier today. But it wasn't the men who took the field; it was the ladies.

Black Ice faced Diamonds in the Ruff and ATM Stack Girls competed against the Pink Panthers. They put on a show for the dozens who came out to the MLK Rec. Center on 10th Street.

"It’s a tradition and you see the crowd around here. We love it, the ladies love it, and the crowds love it, it's a time that everybody can get together peacefully instead of at the dinner table, they can get together here peacefully for Thanksgiving," Black Ice Coach and Minister Ralph Pickett said.

Diamonds in the Ruff beat Black Ice 26 to six, and the Pink Panthers shut out ATM Stack Girls 20 to six.
