Two children die in mobile home fire

It happened around two a.m. Sunday morning on the 1700 block of Colon Mintz Way in Leland. The fire claimed the lives of two young children, six- and eight-year-old brothers Anthony and Tyler Bell. Both attended Lincoln Elementary School. "When fire crews arrived they found a fully engulfed structure with several victims outside the structure," said Brunswick County Fire Marshal Scott Garner. Three of the four other fire victims were transported to the North Carolina Burn Center in Chapel Hill. Two of those victims are also minors. Their condition is unknown. "Over the past couple months we've had several tragic fires," Garner said. "Just unfortunate tragic events so our responders are dealing with that as well." There have been five fatal fires in Brunswick County in the past six weeks. Garner urges residents to do everything they can to prevent future tragedies. "We would like to remind the public or take this opportunity to remind them to check their smoke detectors because that is a very important piece of equipment if you do have a fire inside your house," he said. NewsChannel Three spoke to the great grandmother of the two boys that were killed. She says the family is devastated and that this is a horrible way to start the holidays. Garner says the cause of this fire was combustible materials left too close to a heating device. The victims' names and causes of death have not yet been released. Friends and family are trying to cope by doing what they can to help. Family friend Rick Harshman said, "This family has lost everything they have, including two little boys and their home, and all their worldly possessions, we are immediately setting up a fund to except donations." If you would like to help the bell family, call 910-675-1871.

WOW... Im overwhelmed by the responces. I can't express enough thanks to all of you. On behalf of all Danny's friends that played paintball with him Thank You All. All summer long on sundays we would play paintball in his neighborhood. It will never be the same.... Moving Forward. Port City Militia (Local Paintball Team) on the 15th of Dec (this coming Saterday) will be honoring Danny's family at Adventure Beach Paintball near Mytle Beach. We will be collecting donations for his family on this day. This money will go directly to the family the moment they get back in to town. If you wish to donate to the family and have alot of fun playing the sport the Bell family loved, bring a $20.00 unwrapped toy for a tot and play paintball for free and meet some new friends in the process. After all this is how I meet Danny and his family. We will have a table setup during the event for donations. You can find furthar information about this event in the following link. http://www.portcitymilitia.150m.com/upcoming.html I have also contact the emergency director of the American Red Cross and she is aware of the situation. The organization which i'm proudly apart of stands by ready to assist in, this time of need for the family. Thank you all for the support of my friends family. Know that I speak on the behalf of many people who got the call early Sunday morning about our brother. My god shine the light, and we pave the way. OPEN YOUR HEART TO THIS FAMILY I'm gonna help that family from Leland that lost everything in the fire - They had 4 children - they lost 2 sons in the fire, along with EVERYTHING that they owned - their two daughters are in the hospital in Chapel Hill - I spoke to a lady that works with the Dad of those children - Please contact them if you think you can or want to help the family in NEED!! The phone # for the Electric company that the dad works at is 675-1871 - The drop off place to take any donations to is at the electric company - I don't personally know this family, but I am going to give what I can! I challenge everyone ~ Open up your HEARTS and give to someone that really NEEDS the help - there is nothing that we can do to replace what they've lost, but we can do our very best to help them gain back those things that we take for granted! I AM GOING TO DO THE SAME THING THAT LAURAHOPE IS GOING TO DO, EVERYONE ELSE PLEASE DO THE SAME. THIS IS HORRIBLE, MAKES ME CRY MY HEART OUT FOR THIS FAMILY.

i dont want anything for Christmas. how can i unwrap a present when so many suffer? kids being missing and killed kids burning up in fires kids being raped in school by teachers kids being tortured in the name of democracy when do we start showing compassion and make a sacrifice. I deserve nothing this Christmas. How much is that interest rate on your VISA card? Why not buy a few smoke detectors and drop them off at a firestation.
All my ,love, thoughts and prayers goes out to all the family members durning this time. God Bless The Innocent, T.Cavender
