Two new faces running for City Council

WILMINGTON -- Two new faces are in the running for Wilmington City Council. Kristi Tomey announcing her bid, minutes before Ricky Meeks announced his. Tomey is a project manager for IBM who ran for a City Council seat in 2003. She's pushing for changes that she didnt see happen during the past four years. Tomey said, "Well, I ran for City Council in 2003 and our City still faces the same problems we faced in 2003 -- traffic issues, the convention center." Five people are now in the running. Incumbents Laura Padgett and Pat Delair are vying to keep their seats while newcomers Ronald Sparks, Ricky Meeks and Tomey round out the field so far. Mayor Bill Saffo has also filed. The election will be held October 9.
