TRENTON (AP) -- Two soldiers based in North Carolina have been killed when an improvised explosive device detonated outside a government building in Afghanistan. The Pentagon says 23-year-old Specialist Steven Koch of Milltown, New Jersey, and 22-year-old Sergeant Robert Rapp of Sonora, California, died in the blast Monday. Both were assigned to the 1st Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, at Fort Bragg. Koch's mother says her son had nearly completed his 15-month tour of duty and was scheduled to come home next month. Koch joined the Army in 2006 and took airborne training at Fort Benning, Georgia.
