Two parasailers die off Ocean Isle Beach

A vacation turned deadly Friday afternoon when two female visitors died parasailing off Ocean Isle Beach with family. It happened late Friday afternoon on the east end of the beach. One witness said that two people were dragged for quite a distance before being tangled in the pier. Another witness reported there was a large gust of wind just before the accident. The Coast Guard is investigating the incident and have not released details of the tragedy. The names of the victims have not been released while their families are notified.

Ocean Isle Deaths

OI has had it share of tradegies in the last several years. My prayers are with the families of these women, the witnesses to the tragedy and to the person(s) who were piloting the boat and the owners of the company. I am sure that this was just an accident.

Parasail accident

I have parasailed with them and this is a very good organization with safety as the main priority.No doubt this was a very freak accident. My prayers are with all involved for this very sad situation.

this was a TRAGEDY! my heart goes out to the families, but the weather was a major factor here & the owner should have rescheduled. there was a warning of tropical winds, you have to be aware of conditions when you're doing activities such as parasailing, I do not blame the tourist AT ALL, I just think that the owner should have been more aware & passed that to the consumer, then come together to make a decision...
