Two people still missing and 38 hurt in Slim Jim plant collapse

Two people are still missing in an explosion at a meat products plant in Garner. An apparent explosion and roof collapse at ConAgra Food, Inc. plant near Raleigh sent around twenty people to the hospital; mostly suffering from burns and smoke inhalation. At least five of them were seriously hurt. Emergency crews were keeping people away because of an ammonia leak. An employee at the building described the scene to reporters. "We were inside working and all of a sudden the whole trolley that he was working on, turned red and the next thing you know the place just blew up. They said that debris was everywhere. Half of the packing area just blew up,” said Mogene Spruil. Most of the injured have been treated and released, but five people are listed as in serious condition.
