WILMINGTON -- The UNCW Habitat for Humanity chapter is partnering with United Way and the Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity to completely build its first home. The house will be called the Seahawk Cottage. Lataya Smith and her three kids plan to move in in December. Students raised the money for the house and United Way offered a matching grant of $25,000. Groundbreaking was Saturday morning and Smith said she was touched by everyone who came out for the special day. She said, "It's a fun experience. It's a learning experience. It's nothing that's given to you, you have to work hard to achieve your house. It's a lot of hard work and the first process is digging the foundation."
