Urgent care closes doors

READ MORE: Urgent care closes doors

Surf City Urgent Care and Family Medicine's doors are locked, the windows are closed and the parking lot's empty. Patients are left confused. "I don't know what they're gonna do about it," said Ken Brietske, a patient. "Nobody's called." Ken Brietske was hoping to see a doctor at the facility after he came down with a cold this weekend. He's been a patient at Surf City for almost three years. "The staff has been very good to me, they know me when I walk in," he said. But signs on the doors and windows tell patients to go to Seabreeze Physicians in Hampstead. Patients say they were not told the the practice was closing. "It's pretty upsetting 'cause now it disrupts what I gotta do," Brietske said. "I'm sure they're gonna be back-logged." Dr. Seaborn Blair was the primary doctor at Surf City until he was laid off. He says patients should be notified before a medical practice closing its doors. "They have a right to choose where they go and they have a right to their medical records," Blair said. Dr. Blair says he has and will continue to make house calls to his patients until he can open his own practice. "I have not abandoned them. This is an abrupt closure, and I'll do everything I can to continue to take care of them and their needs," Blair said. But for those without house calls, patients aren't sure where they'll seek medical attention. And they're left wondering about past and future doctor visits. "Obviously they've charged my insurance so I gotta go and pursue getting some results back," said Brietske. "I'll decide after that." Patients under Dr. Blair's care can call him at (910) 470-2818.

Thank God for Dr. Blair and

Thank God for Dr. Blair and his staff. They owe no one an apology. Recently I was in need of something extremely important. I was able to contact Peggy and she went so far above and beyond what I could have expected that I thought I was dreaming. doctors and nurses everywhere should try to do even half of what these loyal people have done.

Please continue to accept

Please continue to accept tricare Dr Blair! We will follow!!! Surf City needs you!

We hope that Dr. Blair can

We hope that Dr. Blair can get things worked out very soon. We love having him as our Dr. and do not wish to change doctors again within a year. This would make two times in a year that a local Surf City medical practice has closed its doors, affecting my husband and myself.

The former staff of Surf

The former staff of Surf City Urgent Care would like to take this opportunity to apologize to their patients. They had no prior warning of the practice being closed. They sincerely regret any confusion, inconvenience, or interruption of care.

Dr Blair

someone needs to please contact the patients to let them know how we can get in touch with dr. blair. he is a wonderful doctor and i will follow him where he goes..i pray that his new office accepts tricare.

Update

Prior to Thanksgiving they were advising patients to go to Seabreeze in Hampstead. They were not taking new patients and they were referring most of the existing to Hampstead. This should not be a surprise.

Seabreeze

Whether or not they were referring patients elsewhere it is still unethical. Dr. Sloan has since lost 3 other quality physicians. That is an obvious problem!
