Alyssa Rosenberg joined the WWAY News Team as a News Reporter in May 2013. She is a North Carolina native, and grew up in Raleigh with her mother, father, and older brother.
Her love for reporting began in high school after she enrolled in broadcasting classes. She became the anchor for the school’s morning show, “Wake Up Wakefield,” and she also created, scripted, shot, edited, and narrated a 30-minute educational video that the school currently uses to inform seniors on their options for education beyond high school.
After high school, Alyssa attended the University of North Carolina at Wilmington to pursue her love of acting. She performed as Masha in UNCW’s production of The Seagull and a few local commercials before deciding that the “acting biz” was not her true calling.
While attending UNCW, Alyssa took a broadcast journalism class that re-sparked her passion for television news, and led her to apply for an internship at WWAY NewsChannel 3. On her second day as an intern, she put together a package that aired on the evening news. Over the next four months, she worked diligently to make a difference in the newsroom and prove herself as a reporter.
A few weeks after the internship ended, and days after graduating Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre Performance and a minor in Psychology from UNCW, she was offered the position of Reporter.
In her free time, Alyssa enjoys spending time with her wonderful boyfriend, Kyle, and adorable miniature schnauzer, Chico Loco. She also enjoys hiking, cooking, and relaxing at the pool. Don’t let the sweet smile fool you though; Alyssa is a black belt in karate and plans on kicking butt as a reporter too!
