About Me

Asha Davé joins the WWAY News Team from The Sunshine State. Being from Florida, it’s fitting that Asha started working at WWAY the day Hurricane Earl made his appearance off the Carolina Coast. She is a true Florida Girl, born and raised in the small agricultural town of Okeechobee and educated in Gainesville at the University of Florida (Go Gators!). Asha brings a Bachelor of Science degree in Telecommunication-News and a Certificate of Climatology and Meteorology to News Channel 3. She is so proud to be part of The Gator Nation and would love to watch Gator games with fellow Wilmington Florida fans!

While at the University of Florida, Asha worked at WUFT-TV, Gainesville’s PBS affiliate, housed at the University’s College of Journalism and Communications, as a general assignment reporter and as the Chief Forecaster; she was part of the Best Student Newscast in the nation. Her favorite thing was to forecast gameday weather on the jumbotron at Gator football games! Asha also won a First Place Florida Associated Press Award for her report on a University of Florida dance therapy program for Parkinson’s patients. Asha’s summers during college were full of amazing experiences including an internship at NBC in Miami, working for three months at a homeless shelter in Louisville, KY and traveling all over Europe and India with her family!

Asha’s name means “hope,” and she has always felt it is her calling to bring hope to those who have none. She believes her passion for writing and weather and compassion for people and community can do that.

Outside of the newsroom, Asha loves to spend time with her wonderful family and friends, get involved with her church and local community, travel, try new things and cheer on her Florida Gators! She loves anything local and is excited to experience all Wilmington has to offer! If you have a story idea or want to suggest a local hidden gem, she’d love to hear from you!
