About Me

John Rendleman is currently on his second stint with WWAY.

John was a sports reporter & weekend sports anchor for WWAY from 1989 to 1995. He rejoined WWAY in January of 2008, but this time around he's a news reporter and sports reporter / sports anchor.

A lifelong resident of North Carolina, John grew up in Salisbury. He proudly calls Salisbury the home of Cheerwine. Needless to say it's his favorite beverage. After graduating from NC State with degrees in Political Science and Speech Communications John moved to Fayetteville. There he was the Sports Director of WKFT Television for over 5 years. John left Fayetteville for Wilmington in 1989 and he's been on the coast ever since other than a brief stretch in Boone. In Boone John teamed with WWAY News Anchor Steve Rondinaro at the Mountain Television Network as a news reporter/ news anchor and sports reporter. 2005 - 2007 were great years to be in Boone if you like sports. John covered the 3-time national champion Appalachian State Mountaineer football team.

When he's not working, you can find John at home with his wife, Jennifer and son, Trevor. For the time being, Trevor is the king of every playground in Wilmington. Trevor is yet to master his tricycle though. Jennifer is a great mom and wonderful cook. John loves being a dad. He enjoys road cycling and photographing Trevor’s adventures.
