Marcy came to WWAY in September of 1999, only a few days before Hurricane Floyd made landfall. The frenzy of working during a Hurricane was definitely one way to get her feet wet in the hectic but exciting business of television news.
Marcy was born in San Pedro, California, but moved to Newton Grove, North Carolina in 1989. Marcy graduated from East Carolina University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication, with a concentration in Media Performance. While at ECU, she worked briefly as a sportscaster at WZMB, the student-run campus radio station. Her last semester of college, she worked as an intern in the sports department at WNCT-TV 9 in Greenville.
Marcy believes if you try hard enough at something, you'll eventually succeed. When she first started at WWAY, she worked as a part-time editor. She moved up the ladder from editor, to reporter and now she gets up at 1:00 AM every day to anchor Good Morning Carolina.
Her family is the most important thing in her life. She is very thankful to have two wonderful, supporting parents. Marcy is very proud of her sister, Angel, who will soon be graduating from Stanford University. (Though Marcy likes to point out East Carolina beat Stanford 19 to 13 on Dec. 30th, 1995 in the Liberty Bowl.)
Marcy got married this past September. Her husband, David works at PPD. They live in Wilmington with their two "babies," their cats Blizzard and recently adopted Jade.
In her spare time, Marcy enjoys watching "Alias" on DVD. She loves reading novels by Ann Rice, Stephen King, and Sidney Sheldon. She's also a fan of Walt Whitman and Edgar Allen Poe.
