About Me

A Texan and Aggie at heart, Marissa Jasek joined the WWAY News Team in November 2010. Born and raised in the Lone Star State, Marissa is originally from San Antonio, Texas. She graduated from Texas A&M University in May 2010 with a Bachelors degree in Communications and a minor in Psychology.

During her last year at Texas A&M, Marissa had her first taste of broadcasting when she hosted a Fox Sports segment entitled Big 12 Showcase: Women's Sports Special. During the nationally televised segment, she discussed highlights and results from the 2010 Big 12 Women's Swimming and Diving Championship. After graduation, Marissa moved back home and was a news intern for San Antonio’s ABC station, KSAT12.

While at Texas A&M, Marissa swam for the Aggie Women's Swimming and Diving team. She was a four-time All-American and qualified for the 2008 Olympic Trials in the 50-meter freestyle.

Outside of the newsroom, Marissa enjoys staying active, exploring the Cape Fear area and meeting new people! If you have any interesting story ideas, she would love to hear from you!
