Personal Info- About Me
A born and raised Texan, Ramon graduated from Montwood High School in El Paso where a field trip to a local TV station (KTSM) sparked an interest in media. After high school Ramon moved to central Texas where he graduated from Texas State University in 2008 with a BA in Electronic Media and a minor in Photography. During college he anchored and reported for his university newscast, 'Bobcat Update,' but it was his hands-on internship at KXAN, the NBC affiliate in Austin, that sparked a true passion for journalism. While at his internship in Austin he was able to learn from a talented and dedicated group of reporters who shared their advice and experience that proved to be more beneficial than any classroom.
Ramon's first job out of college took him back to his hometown of El Paso where he worked as a reporter for KDBC, the CBS affiliate. While working for KDBC, the station merged with the NBC affiliate KTSM in December 2009. He made it through the massive amounts of job cuts brought on by the merger but after working for both stations, an opportunity sprung up in Wilmington. Ramon never thought he would be living in the southeast but is so glad that he made the decision to work for WWAY News Channel 3.
Ramon looks forward to growing as a journalist each and every day and is thankful that he has the opportunity to serve the community through his work.
In his spare time Ramon enjoys playing golf, riding his mountain bike, and watching his favorite soccer team Manchester United.
