Utility companies working on tree maintenance

Fall is here, and that means utility companies are out doing maintenance. Companies like Progress Energy are working to prevent tree limbs from taking down power lines. That is the reason you may have seen more trimmings stacked along area streets. Spokesperson Jeff Brooks said while some residents might question why the trees are being trimmed back so much, there is a good reason. “Tree limbs and other vegetation are one of the leading outages for the electric grid and typically they involve, during windy conditions or stormy conditions a limb that falls on a line and can While some trees will not provide the same shade as others, they will improve safety around power lines.

Ugly Trees

I know the trees must be trimmed to help reduce power outages. I do not want anyone to go without power. But must the crews cut holes in the trees that small aircraft could clear? And how about the equally ugly boomerang tree? Some of the ruined trees on roadways are ever bit the eyesore of a billboard.

shocked they care now

I'm shocked they care now. We had a new electric line moved to our house (off a pole that probably should have been replaced 10 years ago since it's no longer straight) and they ran the line right under a dead limb. They claimed it wasn't their job.
