Verizon Wireless employees called in some holiday cheer for families from the domestic violence shelter. Thirteen hundred employees from the Verizon Call Center adopted 21 families from the shelter; twice as many families as last year. Thursday, they dropped off tons of gifts; everything from a bicycle to a baby swing, to answer their holiday wishes. "When most families, most victims come to us, they've left everything behind. They leave their clothes, they leave their children's toys,” described Shanta Nowell of the domestic violence shelter. “So for them, this is a blessing, this is their Christmas basically.” Friday, the gifts will be delivered to the families so they can open them on Christmas morning.

I think that it is so

I think that it is so wonderful, that despite the current economic hardships, people can still come together to give just a little to those who truly need it. It is also very impressive that the local employees at Verizon adopted twice the number of families as it did last year. It really shows a lot about the type of employees they hire when they are willing to give back to the community that it resides in. We all need more good news!
