School board likely to shut Virgo Middle School's doors

The future of D.C. Virgo Middle School is up in the air. It's only been a few months since the New Hanover County School System came to an agreement about middle school redistricting, but now it's considering making yet another change that could affect faculty, parents and most importantly the students.

students are only mascots for hidden agendas

there are so many other options for the board to consider to save money - traveling arts programs, traveling college-prep programs, and reducing positions that do not directly work with students. students should be our top priority, and if you look at what benefits them, it includes individual attention and consistency. that wonderful school has been set up to fail, with redistricting, with forced schedule changes, with too many top-down initiatives in too short of a time to see any true success. they wanted to close virgo before, and because of community resistance, they simply turned it into a chess game, and ....check mate. the board gets to close the school like they originally planned. they justification doesn't even make sense - but then, that seems to be the norm in this county. and the kids are still the mascot that gets thrown around for publicity, and really has no importance whatsoever. school board meeting, march 1st.
