ONLY ON 3: After one year on job West Bladen principal making impact

It was a year ago that West Bladen High School made headlines for several incidents on campus. But a new school year and a new principal have put the school in a whole new light.

Good press, but really Bladen County?

As a student, I think it's EXCELLENT that West Bladen is finally getting the good press that we deserve. There have been a lot of changes, and I've lived those changes as I've attended school this year. Kudos to WWAY for reporting on a positive story about positive changes in a school that once was troubled.

I would like to point out, however, that WWAY is in New Hanover County. West Bladen is in Bladen County. Our own newspaper, the Bladen Journal, has not once run a story on the positive changes made in the school. The only stories run were about the school's athletics (which are also pretty stellar, I must admit). It should NOT be this way. A county should support positive changes made in ANY of its schools, because positive changes in the school mean positive changes in the community, and if our own county cannot get behind us and encourage us, what does that say about our community?
