WILMINGTON,NC (WWAY) — In the past after battling in the spring the four Wilmington high schools unite for American Legion play in the summer, but that’s not the case this year. Post 10 remains the team to play for if you attend New Hanover, Ashley or Hoggard, but Laney has started a new team. With the addition of three Trask High School baseball players this should help Laney High School in 2012. Scott Sandlin should know. He’s the head coach of Post 10, but he’s also an assistant baseball coach at Laney High.

On Tuesday night the new Wilmington Laney team defeated Post 10 by a 5-4 score. Wilmington Laney is now 8-1 on the season. Wilmington Post 10 drops to 8-2.
