Several local players are selected on day two of MLB Draft

WILMINGTON,NC (WWAY) — The Milwaukee Brewers selected UNC Wilmington outfielder Andrew Cain on Tuesday in the 12th round of the Major League Draft. Cain hit 10 home runs this past season for the Seahawks. He had 48 RBI’s. Cain was the only Seahawk player selected on Tuesday: however, two Seahawk signees were drafted.. The New York Yankees picked future Seahawk Tyler Molinaro in the 15th round. The Kansas City Royals selected future Seahawk Jordan Ramsey in the 28th round.

Whiteville native Michael Wright was selected in the third round by the Baltimore Orioles. The right handed pitcher just finished his junior season with the East Carolina Pirates.

ECU Pirate Brad Mincey was also picked. Mincey is a graduate of New Hanover High School. The Florida Marlins picked Mincey is round 28. That’s the same round Saquan Johnson was selected. Johnson is a speedy outfielder from East Bladen who plays both football and baseball. Johnson was recently clocked in the 60 yard dash at 6.20 by a major league scout. Dixon high school senior Rookie Davis was also picked on Tuesday. The Yankees tabbed Davis in round 14.
