WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) –It has been more than a week since 18-year-old Al’Quon Flowers went missing. Brunswick County deputies and Wilmington Police are still looking for the man whose family says his background may have had something to do with the incident.

“He’s just a child that has been caught up in a situation that’s not his own making,” Al’Quon’s great aunt Theresa Greene said.

Flowers disappeared July 19. Family members say they are sure he was targeted as part of some sort of gang violence.

“Some of his brothers are in gangs,” Greene said. “There are situations that have happened that I think is a retaliation from some of the stuff that they have done.”

“He’s a follower, but as far as him being in a gang, you know, he just followed his brothers,” Al’Quon’s father Garry Hines said. “They’re his brothers.”

They believe opposing gang members kidnapped Flowers because of past events his family was involved with.

Flowers was last seen on an unknown block of Red Cross Street on Tuesday, July 19, at about 3 p.m. His family believes that not long after that he was taken to Brunswick County.

“I do believe that this stemmed from another incident. I do believe that,” Hines said. “You are not just going to come up, take a kid into your car, take him over the bridge and then turn him over to somebody else. It just don’t happen. Not in Wilmington.”

Brunswick County was the last place where Flowers’s cell phone was used. Investigators there and in Wilmington say there is no update on case and that the investigation is still ongoing.

Flowers is about 5’7″ inches and weighs about 135 pounds. He also has multiple tattoos.

“It’s a bad situation, and we just want him found, however it is,” Greene said. “We need closure, because I just can’t imagine somebody knowing where he is and not telling, but somebody knows.”

Wilmington Police are asking anyone with information to give them a call at (910) 343-3600 or Text-a-Tip to CRIMES and begin the message with TIP-708.

That is ignorance to make fun of something so trivial when a family is suffering…You are heartless and trite. I’ll pray for you, it’s evident you need deliverance.

It’s only been ONE week, right? And they want closure? They speak like people who’ve had someone missing for months!

“He’s just a child that has been caught up in a situation that’s not his own making,”

I’m afraid when you join a gang and run around town pretending to be a thug it is of your own making.

The first time I read about this I was shocked that something like this has happened in Wilmington NC. The port is so small this is something serious. I dont know Quan but i have heard a lot of good things about him. WE all need to come together and help the Hines family no matter what the outcome maybe. WE are all God’s children. To the Hines family keep God first. To the mother of Quan’s child stay strong for your little girl. To everyone else please pray for them.

I hate to burst your bubble, but NO, we are not all God’s children. We are all his creation, but we choose whose child we are by how we live our lives. Satan has children too.

As far as not judging others, we are all judged by our own actions. An apple tree bears apples, a pear tree bears pears etc. “You shall know a tree by the fruit it bears.” I don’t have to judge anyone, all I have to do is look and observe how they live their life. Their actions tells whose child they are. just as it is impossibe for an apple tree to bear a pear, so is it unlikely a child of God will bear Satans fruit.

SO tired of the same old excuses from these people. They will never change. They don’t care. America has gone to hell thanks to people like this, it will never get better.

  • Guest3 says:

We didnt get on earth from satan. God put us here and at the end of the day we have to answer to God for our actions. People can worship satan all they want but God has the last say so. We are God’s children.

I hope that they find this young man alive and well, but if he is involved in a gang, his chances are slim. Gangs are insidious, rotten cowards that have no qualms about hurting or killing.

I feel sorry for those that get involved in a gang and I feel sorry for those that defend them. I, for one, have no problem with law enforcement doing what they can to rid the communities of the gangs. Parents – you have a responsibility to know what your kids are doing and who they are associating with. Too many times, kids are out on the streets and the parents don’t know or don’t care where they are. The failure of parents to take care of their kids and raise them properly is a major contributor to the downfall of this country.
