Holden Beach declares mandatory evacuation

Holden Beach has declared a mandatory evacuation. Everyone needs to be off the island by 6 p.m. today, according to a news release from Mayor Alan Holden. The bridge is subject to being closed sooner if winds are sustained at 45 mph or higher.

FRAN & BONNIE CAME DOWN AFTER FLOYD TO DO YARD CLEAN UP. IT IS NOT WORTH YOUR LIFE YOU CAN RECOVER MATERIAL ITEMS BUT NOT YOUR LIVES.TO OUR FRIENDS THAT LIVE THERE STAY SAFE, GOD IS WATCHING OVER YOU!!! I
WILL KEEP YOU IN MY PRAYERS FOR SHELTER, FOOD, MED ETC. HOLD YOUR FAMILIES CLOSE TOGETHER AND YOU WILL GET THRU THIS HURRICANE. TOMMORROW WILL BE A BRIGHTER DAY. GO IN PEACE MY FRIENDS. LINDA & BILL
