Local sheriff's deputies train with underwater robot
The New Hanover county sheriff's office is hoping some new technology will help them with underwater searches. Thursday, sheriff's deputies were learning how to operate the department's new remotely operated vehicle. In situations not conducive for divers, the machine will help deputies with search below the water's surface. The department acquired the remotely operated vehicle through a port security grant. It's equipped with all the latest technology from sonar to a GPS.
