Teacher of the Week: Kristi Bolen

WWAY and our sponsors are teaming up to recognize outstanding teachers in the Cape Fear. Every Tuesday, we head out to the winners school to recognize them and present them with a check for three hundred dollars. We went out to Roger Bacon Academy to present this weeks award.

Ms. Bolen is very deceptive

Ms. Bolen is very deceptive - I thought she was a great teacher until the end of school at the class party when she started giving awards to the kids in the class and my child was singed out to receive the 'Worst Handwriting' award. He is an A/B student and does suffer from difficulties in handwriting. That action sealed my decision to remove my child from RBA.

deceptive?!?!?!?!?!?

What a horrible and petty comment. Mrs. Bolen is a caring and dedicated teacher who works very hard and should be allowed to enjoy her well deserved recognition without your immature input. If you have a grievance with someone take it up with them personally, don't post malicious comments about them online. Oh, and maybe while you are helping your child practice handwriting you should practice your grammar...it is "singled out" not "singed out".

I apologize if anyone's

I apologize if anyone's feelings were hurt. Students voted on those awards, and they were meant to be for fun. I would never intentionally make fun of a student for anything. I feel deceptive is a strong word to describe a person for what appears to have been a misunderstanding.

Then you fix it

If your child has "difficulties in handwriting" you should take the time to help your child practice.
