Candidate Interview: Tim Thomas

Republican Tim Thomas is running for North Carolina State House District 16. Self-employed for years, Thomas also has a military background. He served in the Navy. Thomas runs with the slogan, "Putting North Carolina back to work." He says job creation is his top priority after learning about Caterpillar and Continental Tire moving their manufacturing facilities to other states. Thomas has never held political office before, but says his volunteerism in Pender County makes him an excellent candidate.

I understand the rigors of running for political office, but I have received WAY too many "Tim Thomas" political phone calls to my home. As someone who works very had and values my personal/family time...this has definitely left a bad taste in my mouth. I am trying to stay focused on the issues, but unfortunately the phone calls have now become an annoying distraction. :/

Here's a question

Mr. Thomas apparently stated he had never held political office. Did he not serve on the Surf City Town Council some years back? My memory may be off or I may be confusing him with someone else. But, it seems maybe back in the 80's he did.

Please correct me Mr Thomas if I am in error.

I have never served on the

I have never served on the Surf City Town Council. My father, uncle, and brother have. Thanks

Thank You

for the correction.

As it is obvious the winner of the Republican primary will be the defacto selection in the fall, given the lack of a Democratic opponent, I wonder if you could expand on your comments.

It's blatently obvious job creation should be a the top of the legisature's list. How, specifically, will you be working to create jobs? You'll be a newly elected official, with no seniority. How will you go about creating jobs? Do you have a plan which you have not heretofore discussed?

Will you be encouraging Governor McCrory to select a new Secretary of Commerce? Based on recent performance, an empty seat would be better than the current incumbent. No drain on revenue to pay a salary or travel expenses.

Looking for your answer prior to the 8th.

Mr. Thomas

Thank You for the clarification. With no Democratic opponent, the victor will be the next representative in Raleigh.

How about fleshing out your plans to develop jobs within the district?

Bless his heart

This seems like a good ol boy but not sure he is a good representation of we the people of Pender and Onslow County. I am sure he's a good fireman but... OMG
