Artificial reef project advances in Oak Island

Oak Island is one step closer to an artificial reef off its shore. Residents had the chance to voice their opinions at a public meeting Monday night. The majority who showed up were for the reef; hoping a place to grow the fish population will also mean economic gain.

Hi, I do enjoy this idea but when you say it will attract tourist... is that a good thing? I mean I know that it will bring in more money but I know that no permanent resident like myself wants all of that traffic. Plus we only have one major store on the island.... CROWDED!!!
