Laney High School

I am sick and tired of how the media always finds negative things to report on Laney High School. My child is a sophomore at Laney and I volunteer in the main office for three hours each week. Both of my children attended private school from preschool through 8th grade. I was very nervous to place my son in 9th grade at Laney. Well, I couldn't be happier. My child is an honor student with a 3.8 GPA. He is on the tennis team. He has had an awesome group of teachers thus far. I find the curriculum to be challenging yet realistic. The office staff, janitorial staff and the administration at Laney are superb! I feel lucky that my child attends that school. The guidance counselors are very helpful and super involved with the students. It's a great environment. I do not find it to be very clean. I have friends who have children at Hoggard and they tell me the bathrooms there are in an awful state. The kids don't even have toilet paper! In my opinion, Laney has the nicest campus, best administration and faculty and an overwhelming comradery among staff, faculty and student body! I am a former teacher and I have many friends and know many students from all of the local area schools. I know what I am talking about. I find it disgusting and disgraceful how Hoggard is protected from the media. I know a young girl who was beaten to a pulp at Hoggard yet that didn't make the news! I guess sports and money do all of the talking. Lastly, I own property in all of the school districts and probably could have chosen Hoggard. Based on all of my information from students and friends, I chose Laney and I am happy I did!
