Port in Southport

Southport is located 35 miles from the nearest E/W interstate and two hours from the nearest N/S interstate. Moving 7000 trucks a day through area towns and cities before reaching the interstate seems very inefficient, both in time and fuel. Are distributors really going to look at the Southport terminal as their first choice given the limitations of transportation? Locating a port in an area that does not have immediate access to an interstate is an ill-conceived idea.
