Students upset colleges stayed open during storm

At a time when New Hanover County is under a State of Emergency and officials are advising people to stay home, college students still had to go to class today.

You've got to be kidding!!

Serve adults???? Even law enforcement advisories are telling people to stay home. I saw six wrecks on the way downtown and I only live 6 miles away. One of those wrecks included a person getting ejected from the vehicle... but CFCC students must attend! Even UNCW shut down yesterday!

Officials drove around the campus to make sure it was ok??? UUmmm, news flash, there are no dorm rooms! Everyone lives farther than walking distance.

So you want to prepare the students for the work force huh?? Even the courthouse was shut down today. Most of the "adults" you are forcing to drive in the rain and floods are 18-21 and are the least experienced drivers, making them 3 times as likely to be involved in an accident!

So what you're saying is that CFCC is willing to sacrifice the lives of their students in order to "prepare them for the future"? There would be no future if they died trying to get to school.

My respect for CFCC keeps going down.

Maybe Mr. Hardin would have felt differently if his kids...

Maybe his opinion would have been different if his own children weren't in the CFCC daycare facility, and were home without caretakers because their schools were closed. This decision to remain open not only affected students, who in the case of CFCC include a number of adults with children in school, but faculty and staff as well. Sadly, many of the employees at CFCC were left with no choice to but to take personal time off if they had no in-house daycare for their children today, as David Hardin does. It must be nice for him.
