Thousands evacuated because of fire

Gov. Mark Sanford has declared a state of emergency for the South Carolina county where a fire has burned thousands of acres near one of the state's busiest tourist areas.

Concerned about the spreading of the fire and smoke.

Has anyone explained on where the fire might travel? How does this affect the nearby communities,smoke ventalation,especailly those in North Carolina. Is there a danger to those that are downwind. Southern Columbus county is covered in smoke.
