Update: Navassa Police Chief Suspended

Navassa's Police Chief was suspended without pay Tuesday. He was arrested for drunk driving over the weekend in his patrol car. Troopers say Chief Ricky Thorpe's blood alcohol level was three times the legal limit. Some Navassa Residents are stunned and question their safety.

No excuses for the Navassa Police Chief, no second chances, no excuses for his conduct, particularly for a man in his position. It's time he recognized that he has a major problem and get help before he kills someone while driving under the influence. And, furthermore, he needs to be replaced by a person who is responsible and earns the respect of those who work for him.
