There's a hands-on way you can help Haiti tonight. Volunteers will package meals to send to earthquake victims at Cape Fear Presbyterian Church. So far, more than 150 people have signed up.
Event organizers raised more than $5,000. With the help of the national organization Stop Hunger Now, volunteers plan to pack about 20,000 meals.
"It feels good," organizer Tamlyn Shields said. "I think people enjoy having something tangible they can do in addition to just sending money. I think people like having a place to come and actually get their hands dirty and get involved."
If you would like to help, you can drop off monetary donations, or stay to pack meals. The event begins at 6 p.m., at Cape Fear Presbyterian Church. That's on Newkirk Avenue off Shipyard Blvd. in Wilmington.
