VOTE 2010: Civitas Institute debuts interactive "Vote Tracker Tool"

RALEIGH, NC (NEWS RELEASE) – With the November election fast approaching, the Civitas Institute has introduced a new tool called the Civitas Vote Tracker. This interactive Tracker, updated daily, allows citizens to view one-stop voting statistics for their area by searching categories such as county, precincts and legislative districts.

Voters can stay updated on early voting trends and which party is turning out the most voters. Additionally, the Civitas Vote Tracker breaks down the early vote by party, race, age, and various jurisdictions which include charts and graphs for visual comparison.

“We take the early voting data from the State Board of Elections and put it in a format that is useful and easily accessible,” said Civitas Institute Election Analyst Susan Myrick. “The Tracker is the first of its kind in North Carolina, allowing voters to understand and analyze early voting numbers.”

At the close of one-stop voting on Monday, October 18, 126,906 votes had been cast. The vote breakdown was: 55,158 Democrat; 49,290 Republican; 22,331 Unaffiliated; and 127 Libertarian.
