VOTE 2010: Final town hall forum between McIntyre and Pantano tonight

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) - The final town hall forum between Congressman Mike McIntyre and his Republican opponent Ilario Pantano is scheduled for tonight. It's being sponsored by the Alliance of Brunswick County Property Owners Association.

The forum will be held at the Odell Williamson Auditorium on the campus of Brunwick Community College. It starts at 6:00 p.m. and will be shown at 7:00 p.m. on WWAY NewsChannel 3.

Pantano will also join us live on WWAY NewsChannel 3 at 5 to talk about the race so far and what he thinks the next three weeks before the election will bring. We offered the same interview opportunity to McIntyre, but his campaign manager tells us the Congressman's schedule won't allow for it.

Candidates Forum

Had you taken someone with no knowledge about this race to the debate tonight and asked them which one was the Congressman; they would have guessed that it was Ilario Pantano. Pantano clearly held the superior grasp on the data that was discussed. He showed poise and confidence.

McIntyre was visibly shaken. His ineptitude was obvious and his performance appeared dismally adolescent. I would have expected a 14 year Congressman to control the tone of any debate, especially one against a political newcomer.

At times, McIntyre's answers even angered the crowd. In his closing remarks, he referred to Ilario Pantano as "a no man, with no plan".
Again, Mike made bad choice. Pantano supporters outnumbered McIntyre supporters by at least three to one. In essence, Mike had said that we have selected a "no" man, with "no plan" as our candidate.

Sorry Mike, you're wrong again. We have a plan. We plan to move you out from under Nancy Pelosi's skirt and away from Washington. We plan on sending a man that can make the hard choices. A man that doesn't mind ruffling feathers, when it's the right thing to do. A man that has put his money where his mouth is on term limits.

For those who missed the debate, you missed watching democracy in action. Be sure to watch the video and remember to VOTE.

My husband decided to vote for Pantano several months ago, I was still undecided. He took me to the debate tonight. I listen with an open mind it seemed to me all McIntyre did was try to defend his past votes. Pantano on the other hand seemed to address issues. The deciding point for me in the debate was when McIntyre spent his time talking about how conservative he is, and Pantano said in rebuttal if that is true "you would vote for me" Pantano gained at least one more vote tonight. I have children and grand children an hope they have the same opportunities my husband and I had. I don't think that will be the case if Washington leadership doesn't change.

The Debate

So tonight we learned ( or were reminded for the 10,000 th time ) that Pantano was in the armed services. He is beind supported by his rich wife. I heard no ideas or solutions to any problem we face in North Carolina. All he wants to do is tell lies. McIntyre has been helping southeastern North Carolina for years. Pantano is not even from here. Thats whats wrong now. we have a bunch of outsiders move down her and try to tell us what to do . The people who were born and raised here should stand up against that.
