ONLY ON 3: Berger discusses issues in exclusive sit-down interview

New Hanover County Commissioner Brian Berger has been the subject of many controversies during his first year in office. Monday afternoon, hours after fellow commissioners stripped him of many of his responsibilities, Berger sat down with WWAY for more than an hour in an EXCLUSIVE in-studio interview to discuss a turbulent year.

I feel dumb

Just by watching and listening to him talk I feel dumb. This interview could've taken 20 minutes if not less if he 1 would've been prepared, 2 would know how to speak in public and not use the term "um" 8,000 times, and 3 had any common sense. I don't totally fault him for everything, in fact I would like to see less coverage of him just to see if maybe he'll straighten up when he realizes he's not getting any news coverage. He eluded to how his attendance record is as good if not better than the other 5 commissioners...does he not realize he's 1 of 5? His outlandish accusations in this interview could be considered criminal (but I'd have to check with a legal expert). If he thinks he's helping the citizens of this county by continuing to serve as a commissioner he truly is a lunatic. I don't think he even has Ben McCoy & Curtis Wright's approval anymore. The "poor pitiful me" act is getting old. Maybe if we ignore him he'll go away

Fragmented

Fragmented thoughts and comments about this video:
-Did Lily Tomlin leave Edith Ann's twin brother here after filming recently?
-Can a mental health professional give this individual a DSM-IV diagnosis or do we have a new assessment category emerging?
-Whomever was responsible for keeping this man out of the public's scrutiny before his election committed the worst disservice to voters since 1898.
-This reporter should receive an award for maintaining composure and not bursting into laughter in the face of such a comedic performance.
-Wasn't this really a Saturday Night Live Skit?

All kidding aside, we must bear this burden and be creative and ethical to ensure the business of the county is conducted as well as possible. Learning about candidates and voting responsibly in all elections should be a good start to help ensure proper and adequate future representation. Encourage others to do the same!

I'm one of the ones that

I'm one of the ones that voted for Mr. Berger for commissioner and truly felt like I did my "homework" in regards to how I felt he would do as a commissioner. I have nothing against Mr. Berger, nothing at all, but watching this interview was painful.

Since NHC doesn't have any provision for a recall election I know barring something unforeseen we will have Mr. Berger as a commissioner for the next several years. All I hope at this point is that Mr. Berger realizes that he has some severe problems that need to be addressed that DO affect his ability to do the job he was elected to do.

And if you happen to read these comments at all Mr. Berger I'd like you to know you've lost my vote. I'm sure your a really nice guy and it's not a knock on who you are as a person, I'm simply tired of the erratic behavior you continue to display and the way you approach your duties as a commissioner. I've had enough.....

I'm most comfortable with the riff-raff

Wow. He tells us he's more comfortable with the riff-raff and that this is from where he comes. This dude is a quack. We need a recall process implemented.

Be sure to check Part 3 at 9:15 when he's asked to provide an example of the corruption he keeps eluding to. He does a good impression of a deer in the headlights.

The "Cringe Factor"

Nice, but obviously inexperienced local news reporter interviews rambling and essentially incoherent local politician. Small wonder this interview couldn't be actually used, except for a couple of excerpts during the news broadcast. Left to his own demise, Mr. Berger certainly didn't help himself very much with this interview. The nice, but obviously inexperienced reporter didn't help herself very much either. The "Cringe Factor" for this was off the charts.

It seems to me that if Mr.

It seems to me that if Mr. Berger was realy interested in his "responsibilities" he would, at a minimum, show up on time. That says a lot to me about his sincerity and his ability to live to his expectations of himself.
