RALEIGH -- Sheriff's deputies in North Carolina shot and killed an armed man after an early morning standoff at a mobile home. The News & Observer of Raleigh reported that Wake County Sheriff Donnie Harrison said a deputy responded to a complaint around 5 a.m. Wednesday about loud music blaring from a car parked at a mobile home. Harrison said the man told the deputy he had a gun. The deputy retreated and called for backup. The sheriff said a special response team tried for 90 minutes to persuade the man to give up his gun. Harrison said an altercation followed and the man was shot. He died on the scene. The sheriff's office identified the man as 21-year-old Michael Harrison Andrews of Willow Spring. The State Bureau of Investigation is investigating. (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)
