WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Lace up those sneakers and get ready to walk. New Hanover County''s annual Relay for Life is Friday and Saturday at the Ashley High School stadium. There will be plenty of events going on, all the proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society.

Virginia Williamson Elementary is helping raise money for Relay for Life Friday night. The school's dads will take on the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office in a basketball game at West Brunswick High School in Shallotte. The fun tips off at 6 p.m. Admission is $3 for adults. Kids under 12 get in for $1.

Rock for a cause Friday night. Come out to Rockin' for WRAAP at 16 Taps on Princess Street in Downtown Wilmington. It's a benefit concert with local artists for the non-profit organization that provides after school programs for children living in high risk neighborhoods. You must be 18 to enter. The $5 cover charge goes directly to WRAAP. It begins at 10 p.m.

The Carolina Beach Farmers Market starts Saturday. The ribbon cutting is at 10:30 a.m. The farmers market runs through October 29.

Kure Beach is gearing up for its annual Street Festival. The festivities kick off at 11 a.m. Saturday in front of the pier. There will be a variety of arts and crafts, vendors and a free kids game center. Three live bands start at dusk followed by fireworks.

New Hanover County residents start cleaning out your garages and tool sheds. It's time to do a little spring cleaning. The annual household hazardous waste collection day is Saturday. The event is from 9 a.m. till 2 p.m. rain or shine at Wilmington International Airport. Check out this list of what you can and cannot bring to throw away.

Saturday marks the grand opening for the New Hanover County Medical Center Brunswick Forest. You can come out and learn about new health care options in Leland. There will be food, music and entertainment. You can also tour the brand new facility and meet physicians and staff. It's from 1 to 4 p.m.

The North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher is holding a 5K Race for the Planet Seahorse Sprint Sunday. Register at 7 a.m. The race begins at 8 a.m. It starts and ends at the aquarium. The registration fee is $25. Proceeds benefit educational programs at the aquarium.

Sunday kids get to enjoy lazy days at the beach. Youngsters can take an interactive tour through the Wrightsville Beach Museum. There will also be other fun activities as well. Admission is free.
