You can beat the winter blues by stepping into spring this weekend. Plus, if you're ready to hunt for a bargain, there's one sale you don't want to miss. Marcy Cuevas tells us What's Happening.

If you have any extra canned food lying around, UNCW would love to take it off your hands. The college is holding a food drive for the food bank of eastern and central North Carolina. You can drop off the items by 1:30 p.m. at the Warwick Center.

It's a big birthday celebration for the Brigade Boys and Girls Club in Wilmington. The club turns 114. That merits a birthday party with cake, face painting, and more. The celebration begins Friday at 4 p.m.

Ever wondered how and why controlled burns are conducted? You can find out Saturday during the Fire in the Lakes festival. There will be a controlled burn demonstration, along with games, food and music. The festival is from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Boiling Spring Lakes Community Center.

It might not feel like spring, but you can get in the mood for warmer weather by visiting the Wilmington Garden Show. More than 50 vendors will be there. It's Saturday and Sunday at the Cape Fear Community College Schwartz Center. Hours are Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $7.

Doing something as simple as eating breakfast can benefit the relief effort in Haiti. Stop by the Applebee's in Leland Saturday morning between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. for a flapjack fundraiser.
The cost is $10 per person.

While you're in Brunswick County, dads can celebrate Valentine's Day with their little one's.
The Little Princess Ball is Saturday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the New Brunswick Center in Southport. It's for girls in kindergarten through fifth grade. The cost is $10 per person.

if you like hunting for a bargain, you're sure to find something you love at the Junior League's annual bargain sale. It's Saturday morning from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the National Guard Armory on 2221 Carolina Beach Road. Admission is $6.

Saturday night, musicians are coming together to raise money for a fellow artist. Mike Frusha is dealing with AVM, a rare disease that sent him to Arizona for surgery. To help with medical bills, musicians are holding a benefit Saturday at Hell's Kitchen in downtown Wilmington. It starts at noon. The cover charge is $5.

Four time Grammy award winner Jessye Norman is performing at UNCW's Kenan Auditorium Sunday night at 8 p.m. The performance is part of the university's master series. Tickets are $15 for students and start at $55 for everyone else.
